Friday night, the people who could not get enough madness at Otakon took the short walk to the Inner Harbor to the Power House Barnes and Noble. At 9PM started the Harry Potter release party that steadily built until midnight. The party was filled with live music, real owl's, cosplay contests, face painting, art contests, and general madness. Really, this place was crowded at 10PM, it was past firecode at 11PM, and at midnight, it looked like the scene from Empire of the Sun where people were crushing themselves to get out of Shanghai. But we HAD to be part of the event. I think it will be something we can look back on years later and say "WE WERE THERE!!"
Jim, Amanda T. and myself. Amanda was an Otakon Staffer that we met at the party.
Amanda love and loyalties lied with Slytherin.... but she IS going to be an attorney someday. ;p
They brought several owl handlers in for the evening.
The owls were beautiful to see up close.
The Power House Barnes and Noble is in a 100 year old power station... I love the real industrial equipment fused with the surroundings!
There were a number of Harry Potter cosplayers.
Slytherin was well represented.

Professor snape... in sneakers.

One of the few pics that you see of me this weekend. The sideburns were gone by the next day. Most of the blonde hair will be gone this Friday.
It didn't matter that we were a low number, people would not get out of the way for us to get to the register to get our book. Jim ran down an up escalator. Jeanie and I were lucky to get on an elevator and I pushed through the throng of people to get up front.
We got our books and ran into the night around 12:20 AM.... A lot of poor souls were there well past three. Funny, I never got a picture of my book. I am reading it right now, I hope to be done soon so I can join in talking about it with everyone.
If you are interested, here are all of the photos that I took of the evening, the good and the bad.
