I stopped in for a little bit on Saturday, focused on a mission and with the idea that I would see some other people after I completed it. I am almost embarrassed to say that this is the fewest pictures I have ever taken at the con. Lot of good costumes, but lousy lighting. Here they are though. This will be more shoutouts than anything.

I got to see Steph and Peter for a few moments (ladyutenaand skinnypeterm) I didn't get any pictures of them which made me feel bad. Steph's wings for her Sailor Moon costume were awesome.

I spent a few moments talking with Al (Eurobeat King). No matter how busy he is, he's always taken the time to talk to me and introduce me to others. I do appreciate him and I think he might have gotten some of the better cosplay photos I have ever had this weekend.
I also saw popecerebuswho is not only a good photographer, but is very friendly and nice.

My main mission was to see the ladies that I cosplayed with at Dragon*con in a Blade Runner group. pamelaneko, limebarb, and Jia Crens. I also got to meet Hillary who did a fantastic Pris at D*C, but I only got to meet here. I had a bag of the four disc DVD Bladerunner set and gave them to each of the girls. I LOVE Bladerunner and cosplaying with them that weekend made me feel like a rock star... and I really appreciated that.

I had a good time talking to Ryan millennium_majr, Colleen romancandle_, and Nick. And I am aggressively trying to get them to go to Dragon*con. :p I wrapped up by talking to darthtakeoand nachtinisbefore heading home.

It was good to see friends, but I was rundown and in a weird mood. It was fitting I was dressed like a Blade Runner. I felt just like the character on his way home in the movie. Played the Vangelis tracks too.

I went to 10 cons last year and had a wonderful time, but the times are slowing. Next con is Katsucon. Hope there is not too much snow. :p

Oh yes... the con afforded me to get a picture that I will use for my new friends only page. Ahhh.... I am on such a Blade Runner kick.

Saturday had a Star Wars gathering at AUSA. Star Wars boasts two of the largest costume groups with the 501st and the Rebel Legion. That they have been attending anime conventions has been a matter of course, but it will become even more prominent with the animated series of the Clone Wars and a large platform video game next year. Here are some of the Star Wars costumers from the movies and Expanded Universe.

Some music that is not related to anything here other than it is anime. It is from my favorite series Gunbuster II (which is really all Gunbuster). I'd caption these except that I am dead as a dog and I don't want to miss more sleep than necessary. Most of what you will see are friends that I know or costumes that I liked. :D I might add them tomorrow. No Star Wars or tub racing. That might be tomorrow. I wanted to get at least one picture up before bed. AnimeUSA was awesome. Once again what made this con was the incredible new and old friends that I got to spend time with. I have over 1500 pictures I need to sort through over the next couple of days so check back here and see what I post while you enjoy your turkey dinner. :p I'll keep most of the picture posts public and if you have any pictures that you want in higher resolution let me know.

Spartans were for Dragon*con like Fate/Stay Night cosplayers are for most anime cons these days. They are everywhere during the con! And of all different types.

And before we go, Heidi's other costumes need special mention. Anyone that cosplay's from Golden Ax is awesome. Anyone who puts together a Golden Ax groups is SUPER awesome.

An amazingly talented person died today. You will likely not see another like him in your lifetime. It is one thing to be the best in the world, but another to be the best in the world for over a generation. This music might even be fitting for the pictures here.

Dragon*con is where you will find it all. EVERYBODY. I like to think I saw one of everything during the weekend....even if I didn't get a picture of it.

Helpful Tips.... for Dragon*con

Sadly (or for some of you luckily), you will run across those individuals that are out for a grab of a pretty girl or a guy. KNOW how to defend yourself.

Brian here didn't and he got grabbed!! Be careful.

The best defense is to grab the hand for the shoot. A hand in your hand is one that will not be wayward. Being closer in will also limit what they can do... especially if you are taller than them. Be careful out there. ;p

We are all that keeps you from the chaos of the rebellion. I am going to join the 501st and soon. I was surprised at how many former and current military wear the armor. There was a comraderie that I had only seen with Marines and Airborne people before... well maybe that is because a lot of them ARE Airborne and Marines. I figured out that when they called me "brother" it wasn't just a catch phrase. Been a few years since I have been around that. It felt nice... and people to be a part of with cons.....

I found a Green Orion Slave Girl Saturday while walking around in my Imperial Grand Admiral's costume. ;p

Battlestar Galactica at Dragon*con

This post is for Grant gdg who would have had the time of his life had he been there. ;p The video is to get you in the mood and to have a little background music.

Couple of things here. I missed the Galactica panels sadly, but you can find out what was said in the communities here on LJ. I missed the party that was completely filled up. :( I did get a few autographs one of which was from Jamie Bamber, Captain Apollo himself. But the biggest surprise was the cosplayers. Galactica is relatively new and I was surprised at the detail and accuracy of many of the costumes that were there. I didn't go out of my way to get Galactica photos, but now thinking about it, I should have.. there were so many of them and I missed so many opportunities to get photos. They were not just good cosplayers.... they were an absolute hoot to party with. ;p I am going to have to cosplay Galactica for next year.... no question.

Where do you even begin to talk about what happened this weekend? O.O
I don't want to say that this weekend was better than Celebrations IV..... but it was.... It is easier better than any anime convention I have ever been too.... it is the difference of eating Chef Boyardi and getting a three star Italian chef from Naples. It is quite literally the most amazing con I have ever been to. The best costumes. The best guests. The best people. Zero drama (at least in my land). I have seen the mountain Beavis.... and it is good. :p

I have so many pictures, over a thousand. I really do not know where to begin. So many people to thank for making it an awesome weekend.... I'll get to that soon... So why not a video of a song they were playing on Dragon*con TV and a few sampler pictures. I need to go write down things before I forget them. Expect lots of pictures this coming week.
